Dassnagar Infosystems implements superior radio
frequency identification based solutions targeted to
smart hospital asset management and access control. Our
RFID systems may be used to track patients, doctors and
expensive equipment in hospitals. RFID tags can be
attached to the ID bracelets of all patients, or just
patients requiring special attention, so their location
can be monitored continuously.
Our systems can also provide an electronic link for
wirelessly communication of patient data. An instant
assessment of critical equipment and personnel locations
is also possible through a blend of RFID and GPS
technologies.
These applications can be combined with Dassnagar
surveilance systems, to allow only authorized personnel
to access to critical areas of the hospital.
- Continuously track each patient's location,
- Real time tracking of the location of doctors and nurses in the
hospital,
- Track location of expensive and critical
instruments and equipment,
- Restrict access to drugs, pediatrics, and other
high-threat areas to authorized staff,
- Monitor and track unauthorized persons who are
loitering around high-threat areas,
- Facilitate triage processes by restricting access to
authorized staff and "approved" patients
during medical emergencies, epidemics, terrorist
threats, and other times when demands could threaten
the hospital's ability to effectively deliver
services,
- Use the patient's RFID tag to access patient
information for review and update through hand-held
computer (PDA)
Typical Applications
Patients and Doctors
A high resistant plastic RFID wristband with a single use locking clasp
has a transponder embedded in it. This wristband allows medical
facilities to track and identify patients/doctors and also to limit their
departure or access to certain areas. It can also store information
about medical allergies or other health history. The device could also
be used as an e-purse for cashless transactions at the time of hospitalisation.
Blood and Specimen Bags
Identifying and tracking different medical bags is the objective of this RFID
solution. An electronic label with a unique serial number or other stored
information is placed on the medical bag. The application of an e-label will
reduce handling, human errors and lead to the prevention of the resulting
administrative problems.
Bottles, Tubes and Trays
Implementing Dassnagar's RFID solution in the pharmacy can minimize
medication errors. It is easy to apply an RFID label on the side of a
tube or attach a very thin tag to any container. The data is retrieved
using a reader-pen which can be plugged directly to your computer or
a handheld reader. These devices can scan the information or just the
unique serial number depending on programming.
Tracking of patient files
By attaching an electronic label on the
cover, files containing important documents like address, medical bills,
prescriptions, clinical reports, pathological test certificates, name of
attending doctors, insurance company details for an outgoing patient can be
easily trackable from store room cabinets containing millions of patient
files. The system incorporates passive RFID tags with unique EPC code and
handheld readers which communicate with the tags embedded in the files
thereby identifying the EPC code and locating the asset being tracked. The
application of an e-label will reduce handling, human errors and lead to manpower
reduction.
In fact the only limit to the possible uses of RFID in hospitals, is our
imagination.
